About Plain Automation

Plain Automation is an independent review project. We started it because most writing about automation tools is aimed at developers — and most of the people who would benefit from these tools are not developers. They're shop owners, freelancers, consultants, and small teams who just want repetitive computer work to happen by itself.

Our promise is in the name: AI automation tools, explained in plain English. Every article is written for someone with zero technical background, and any unavoidable technical term is explained the moment it appears.

How we test

We don't rewrite press releases. For every tool we review, we sign up ourselves, connect real accounts, and build real workflows — the kind a small business would actually use. When something is confusing, overpriced, or broken, we say so. When something genuinely saves time, we say that too, and show you how to set it up.

How we make money

Some links on this site are affiliate links. If you click one and later buy or subscribe, we may earn a commission — at no extra cost to you; the price you pay is the same either way. This is what keeps the site running and the reviews free to read.

Two rules protect you from that arrangement:

  • Rankings are never sold. No company can pay for a better position, a kinder paragraph, or a place on this site. Sponsored placements do not exist here.
  • Commissions never shape conclusions. We recommend what we would recommend to a friend. Read our full affiliate disclosure for the details.

Where to find us

We don't run an email newsletter — your inbox has enough going on. Every review also appears on our YouTube channel, where you can watch the tools in action. That's also the best place to reach us with questions or requests for future reviews. You can also follow us on X (Twitter) for new review announcements and quick automation tips.
